EUCLID C-FINDER is the solo project of Mike Mehl. In early 2018 they released 'A Standard Basis For The Set of All Discontent' and, to be quite frank, it's fanfuckingtastic.

Opener "Morning Glory Memory (Quantico 3mph)" is a straight-up mindfuck that screams Graf Orlock more than anything else, and I'm totally down with it. And there's also that final breakdown post-30 seconds which is utterly pulverizing. Next up is "I Just Want To Live In A Banach Space" which is twice the length and...wait a minute...twice the speed?! Seriously the first half of this will melt your face (Secondgradeknifefight style) and the final fast/faster/fast/faster segment takes this song to the next level. At halfway through the EP we reach "You Too Can Be A Toxic Avenger!", a much sassier number that, without a doubt, will bring Fear Before The March Of Flames to mind. At 40 seconds the song shifts into much noisier territory with shrieking and much darker instrumentals which revert back to the initial opening from 1:29 to 1:48. "A Proof About Hungry Ghosts" is a furious and frantic fourth track, taking a leap with the guitars a tad before its midsection which leads to that jarring transition into death to wrap up the final 20 seconds. Closer "October 31st, 1994" not only surpasses the two minute mark, but the third as well. It comes in with interesting guitar wonkery injected into blazing hardcore before jumping to warp speed. Around the 40-second mark the song takes a huge turn down early Converge alley and smashes itself on the pavement just after the first minute. It spends the next two minutes playing coyly with the listener and making the jump most obviously into subdued screamo. A fitting close to one hell of a debut release.

This will honestly be one of the best solo-band records to come out this year, so don't sleep on it if you already have for the past few months.
