For fans ofBattle Of Wolf 359, Ostraca, Guidelines, OsoLuna, Welcome The Plague Year, Rats Into Robots, The Assistant, Corea, Coma Regalia, Neil Perry, Makara, Swan Of Tuonela, Caught In The Fall and Angel Eyes aka PROPER SCREAMO.

TO DREAM OF AUTUMN (whom I shall now refer to as TDOA) are another one of those obscure, hard to find but fuckin' phenomenal older screamo, ambient/emo-violence and hardcore bands that released material from 1998 to 2001. The anger, emotion and drive are more than apparent as the band blazes through songs with a bunch of interlaced parts, vocals and styles. If I may, I like to imagine missiles made of scorpions screaming downwards from a purple sky to sting the apathy and evil of our planet, or at least that's an image that's popped in to my mind whilst listening to this apocalyptic band. I think the closest comparisons are probably The Assistant's harder material (TDOA has no clean singing), Battle Of Wolf 359 and Guidelines. The members from this band went on to form the unbelievably good Rats Into Robots which were 3 of the 5 of them and that shit is honed sonic assaults that bear heavy resemblance to TDOA.

The band's final EP 'Kill Your Cul-De-Sac' is the record most worth your time. The entire discography is really good but holy fuck this last release is awe-inspiring. "Perhaps We are Going Away" has an ending to die for, which begins at 1:10 with swirling/breakdown guitars that create quite the trip when they meet in the whirlwind of venomous dual vocals. The song in particular gives a glimpse into Rats Into Robots' future material. "What Birds Plunge Through Is Not the Intimate Space" and "The Rapture of the Deep" are also essential tracks with music that truly is ahead of its time. My favourite song is "My Geodesic and the Humming That Persists" that gets fucking ridiculous just 25 seconds in. At halfway through the song we are met with an eerie, brooding dual guitar picking that goes cataclysmic at 3:23 - think Battle Of Wolf 359 and Welcome The Plague Year, with the new Italian heroes OsoLuna and America's Guidelines carrying this torch. So good. So insanely bloody good.

From the 'Bright Calm Blue split' 7" the second track "Computers are Easy" uses a Network movie soundclip in conjunction with some ambiance/noise which is really effective. This split 7" is what initially got me into the band and to this day I can't remember if TDOA got me into BCB or vice versa. The 'Tour CD' has different versions from some of the other releases and has a much more emo-violence and harsh feel to it.

Download this discography now, you never know when the link may expire. Hats as well as shoes off to you, TO DREAM OF AUTUMN. You gave some ballistic bangers.
